Review:
I will just come out and say it—I didn't like this series, at times I even hated it. However, this book was by far the best out of the three, and I could still only conjure up 3 stars for it. I read the entire series this week, and I wanted to just DNF (did not finish) throughout the entire first two books. By the time I got to the third I was so invested in the characters, and had put so much time into putting up with them, that I just had to finish the third.

I must tell you the reason I didn't DNF the first two was because I requested an eARC for This Man Confessed, so I felt obligated to read on even though it pained me severely at times. The reviews for this series are raving mostly 5 star reviews from book bloggers whose opinions I trust. Sadly, I have no idea how we were even reading the same books—but because of this I cannot fully condemn the series, it may just be me…

Before I go into what I didn't like, I will tell you what I did like. First, and foremost the HOT sex. If it was not for the unbelievably hot sex in this series I definitely couldn't have finished it. It was all alpha goodness, with the hard, soft, and everything in-between f**ks. Jesse is one fine specimen ;-)
“It doesn't always have to be hard Ava. I hold the power no matter how I take you” ~Jesse *sigh*

And I know many readers have been upset with Jesse’s antics—I rarely was. He is mentally messed up and I knew that from the beginning of the first book. He reminds me a lot of Christian from Fifty—in fact this series reminds me a lot of Fifty. He is completely obsessed with Ava, and I loved him all the more for it. By the end of this book we get a better understanding of why he is the way he is. Overall, despite all his antics, and throughout all three books, I really liked Jesse Ward.

This Man Confessed starts with Jesse and Ava’s wedding. It was somewhat of a debacle, but it was endearing too. Jesse loves Ava so much you can feel it through the pages.
“You've taken me completely, baby. You've swallowed me up and drowned me in your beauty and spirit. You know I can’t function without you. You've made my life as beautiful as you are. You've made me want to live a worthy existence—a life with you. All I need is you—to look at you; to listen to you; to feel you… ...to love you” ~Jesse

I LOVED the ending—the last 25% of the book was 5 star worthy, almost… I loved it, and the Epilogue—which was fan-freakin-tastic!!!

This brings me to what I didn't like about this series, the heroine. Ava was literally the most annoying heroine I have EVER come across. She is weak, annoying, extremely fickle, unbelievably predictable, and for the first two books was CONSTANTLY running away from Jesse for what reason, I have no idea. She at many points thought he was using her?? He showed from early on that was extremely far from the truth… I could go on and on with all things negative about her, but you get my point. I have heard her compared to Kiera from Thoughtless—gaining maturity throughout the series—I disagree. She showed no signs of improving herself in the first two books, and I did not see any in the first half of the third either. Yes, by the very end she did improve somewhat.

IMPORTANT—I must point out that Jesse is absolutely an alcoholic!!!! He is the epitome of an alcoholic. He drinks because he cannot deal with his past, which if the author did her homework she would know that’s what most alcoholics are guilty of. I am a healthcare worker who has worked with substance abusers, and they drink because they cannot deal with life on life’s terms. I am sorely upset with Mrs. Malpas for misleading the public because that could endanger lives if someone reading this book brushes off their own, or a loved one’s problem because of this. And once an alcoholic, always an alcoholic. Just because someones circumstances change does not mean their drinking habits will—sadly Mrs. Malpas does the impossible and turns Jesse into a non-alcoholic at the end of this book. Please do not believe that is possible, it is not. If you take nothing out of this review, please at least take that with you.

Overall, I cannot recommend this series. However, if you have already read the first two, I do recommend reading the third, This Man Confessed.
